Hobart Tall Ships

Hobart Tall Ships flotilla

It has been a long time since I’ve been on a boat, with the wind whipping my hair back and the salty spray stinging my cheeks. But this morning we were lucky enough to join some friends on the River Derwent as part of the local flotilla that gathered to send off the Tall Ships from Hobart.

As you’ll see from the photos, the weather changed every five minutes throughout the morning – we were treated to beautiful sunshine and bucketing rain – but we were well wrapped up, and the event was an absolute joy. DorkyDad and I are both salty dogs at heart, and found it hard living in Hertfordshire with not a coastline to be seen for miles. We are hopeful that living in Tassie will help DorkySon fall in love with the sea too… I think this morning has helped him well on his way.

  1. Impressive boats, and I am so jealous of your proximity to the seaside. Jason keeps on about wanting to live in California and I don’t want to uproot my family, but the sea is probably the one thing that would make me go.
